Session FAQ


Okay, I’ve booked a session…now what?

Let the fun begin! I typically book 2 to 3 weeks in advance and before the session date, we will meet for a design session in order to go over the details of how it will all work. For example, where the session will take place, what to wear, who will be at the session and how you plan to display your images.

The retainer fee is $100 and is due one week before the session date. It is non-refundable if there is a no-show or a last minute cancellation. However, it is fully refundable if the session is cancelled with at least 72 hours of notice and it is also transferable with no additional charge if the session date is postponed or if we need to reschedule because of weather.

Where will the session take place?

I have a full indoor studio or I am open to having the session at another location or outside if you wish. I am also happy to work with your schedule in order to find a time that works best for you during the week or on weekends. I completely understand that life can be busy!

What do I bring to a session?

  • Props

Props are always encouraged! They can add a lot to a session, especially if they mean something to you. I only ask that you contact me ahead of time to let me know what you plan on bringing so that I can plan accordingly. I also have props available at the studio at your request. 

  • Spare clothes

Working will little ones can mean having a little accident from time to time. If this happens, please do not worry! It is normal and something I am very used to. That being said, it would be very helpful if you brought an extra set of clothes just in case. 

  • Snacks

Don’t hesitate to bring along some snacks during a session. A little sugar pick-me-up can help make the session much more enjoyable for your little ones. 

  • Wet wipes and tissues

Kids will be kids and that usually that means boogers and drool. Needless to say, wet wipes and tissues are very handy to bring along!  

Now that the session is over, how long until I see my images?

Roughly one week after your session you will be able to see your images for the first time. We will then set up a time to meet so that we can decide which images you would like to order. 

Why do I have to wait so long to see my images after my session?

I know you are excited to see you images, I am too! However, this is where the work really begins for me. I spend a lot of time sorting through all of the images and editing them so I am able to bring out there natural beauty. After this part is done, we will meet at my studio so that you can select your images.  I will then go through the selected images and retouch them to make sure they are perfect and have them printed. 

Can you make me slimmer? Can you make my teeth whiter? Can you make me look younger?

The answer is no, no and no! I will retouch the images enough to bring out their natural beauty but I will never make you look different than who you are. My job is to capture the love and true nature of what is in front of me. I believe you are perfect the way you are. 

How many images will I get?

After your session, I will provide you around 30 to 40 images to choose from. From these you can choose as many images as you want to purchase! We have a lot of great products available to display your images. 

I heard your shutter go well over 100 times, why didn’t I get all the images?

Unfortunately, some of your images did not make the cut due to blinking, clothing/posing mishaps, and other factors out of my control. This is exactly why I take so many. I want to make sure we get the perfect image!

Can I have the unedited files along with the edited ones?

In order to protect my craft, I will have to say no to those who ask me this question. Part of my work and my style includes my editing, so I will only agree to give you the finished product.
